Where We Stayed in Madagascar: 3 Stays, 3 Different Vibes

If you’re planning a trip to Madagascar, securing the best accommodations is just as important as figuring out what to do while you’re there. In this post, I share the 3 places we stayed in Madagascar: Radisson Blu, Vakona Lodge, and Loharno. Each spot gave us a different side of the island: city, rainforest, and beach.
Radisson Blu Serviced Apartments — Antananarivo
⭐ 4 Stars | City Center | Range $90 – $115 USD per night
Right in the heart of the capital, Radisson Blu Serviced Apartments made our first few nights in Tana easy and comfortable.

What I loved:
- Modern, spacious rooms with kitchenettes (perfect for long stays)
- Amazing city views, fitness room, and onsite restaurant (Delicious Breakfast)
- Great location: Walking distance to cafés, shops, and markets
It’s business-class chic without feeling too stiff. Definitely a great base if you’re flying in or out of the capital before heading to Nosy Be.
Vakona Forest Lodge — Andasibe Rainforest
⭐ 3 Stars | Near Andasibe-Mantadia National Park | Range $90–100 USD per night
About 3 hours east of Antananarivo, this lodge sits in the rainforest where the lemurs are literally your neighbors.

What I loved:
- Cozy bungalows surrounded by trees
- Onsite restaurant, pool, and their famous “Lemur Island” boat ride
- Easy access to guided nature walks and night safaris
- Half-board options with breakfast & dinner included
It’s rustic-luxury. Just enough comfort while keeping you close to the sounds of the forest.
Loharano Lodge — Nosy Be Island
⭐ 4 Stars (Resort) | Beachfront Ambaro Area | $110 – $140 per night
By the time we reached Nosy Be, I was ready for sunshine, ocean air, and stillness — and Loharano Lodge was exactly that.

What I loved:
- Spacious villas with garden views and private terraces
- Two gorgeous pools, spa services, and easy beach access
- Fresh seafood meals (the grilled lobster was top-tier)
Packages offered:
- Bed & Breakfast – for travelers who like flexibility
- Half Board – includes breakfast + dinner
- All Inclusive – all meals + selected drinks + activities
Pro tip: If you’re planning to just relax, go for the all-inclusive package. But if you are planning to spend time exploring, half-board is the best option! We chose the half-board option because lunch was included on most excursions!
Together these three stays gave us a full picture of Madagascar — the city buzz of Antananarivo, the deep greens of Andasibe, and the golden calm of Nosy Be. If you’re building your itinerary, mix all three for a well-rounded experience.
